Recipe - Turmeric Granola Baked with Maple Syrup and Orange Juice


Homemade and superlatively easy.

And it’s baked.

I had so much fun cooking with Shalini Digvijay from Baketitude that we had to do this all over again. Working with an oven is so fascinating that I just loved being a part of this recipe.

All that healthy fat in those nuts and seeds. Seeds mostly and some nuts.

And then I spiked the goodness by adding turmeric.

And sweetened it with maple syrup.

So this is a gluten free granola mix. I could’ve made this into a granola bar, however, additional binding means adding more calories.

So instead of the calories, upped the flavor profile by adding some orange juice.

All for the aromas and sunshine and golden hues make this granola perfect for a parfait.

A layered granola parfait. 

With yogurt and chopped fruits.

An absolutely amazing breakfast.

Or snack or whatever time your hunger strikes…

For the

Turmeric Granola Baked with Maple Syrup and Orange Juice

You need (Ingrediants)
2 cups amaranth puffs
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup flattened rice flakes-I used red rice poha
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 cup orange juice
1 heaped tbsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp crushed sea salt
2 cups assorted seeds and nuts

In a large bowl mix all the dry ingredients.
Just in case you don’t know: Amaranth puffs are RAM Dana…With which the make seul ke laddoo for phalahar.

My assorted seeds etc included ,slivered almonds, pumpkin seeds, melon seeds , chia seeds , hazelnuts , chopped dried apricots

In a large jug or glass mix the orange juice, maple syrup and turmeric well.
Now pour over the dry ingredients.
Mix well ensuring everything is coated well and spread evenly in a baking tray.
Bake at 150℃ in the oven and bake at least 30-35 minutes.

Check to see whether the almond flakes ,poha and oats are toasted. And of course, stir once every 5-10 minutes.

The amaranth puffs will be flavorful and crisp and the almond flakes should be toasty.

Turn off the oven and open the door and allow the granola to cool inside only.

Store in a glass Mason jar or an airtight Tupperware.

You can top your fruits and yogurt with this granola for a super healthy breakfast or snack.

This is sure to stave off hunger pangs for a few hours without any guilty pangs.

There is no extra sugar , but the sweetness of the dried fruits is enough.

Just remember to check that the amaranth puffs are put in a sieve and shaken…

They often have sand and grit as they are toasted like that only.

You can layer granola, fruits and yogurt to make a parfait and have dessert for breakfast.

Just remember, it’s wholesome, healthy , baked and homemade.

And has a whole host of sunshine vitamins for good health.

Try it out and bake yourself some good health.

You can of course add cornflakes or quinoa flakes or chia seeds or even cocoa nibs.

Add more maple syrup to taste or even add orange zest. You can try your own flavors too.

Because life is what you bake of it.
